Why Families Choose Us

This Is ABA Done Differently

No waitlists, no runaround, no mountains of paperwork. Here's what you actually get with Tall Grass.

Therapy at Home

No clinics, no waiting rooms, no long drives across town. We bring therapy to your living room, your kitchen table, the backyard — wherever your kid feels most like themselves.

Small Team, On Purpose

We're boutique by design. That means we know your kid by name — their quirks, their wins, what makes them light up — not a case number waiting in some queue.

Your Family, Your Team

You're never stuck on the sidelines. We teach you the strategies, celebrate the wins right alongside you, and keep progress going long after we head home for the day.

We Pick Up the Phone

Question at 9 PM? Text us. Rather call? A real Iowan answers — no phone trees, no week-long wait for a callback. When you need us, we're already there.

Why Start Now

Earlier Is Everything

Here's the thing about ABA: the sooner you start, the further your child goes. Young brains are wired to learn fast, and every month spent waiting is a month of progress you don't get back.

So we don't do long waitlists. We get your child's insurance verified and sessions started — quickly — before that window slips by.

  • No waitlist — most families start within a couple of weeks
  • Skills learned young turn into lifelong habits
  • Therapy happens at home, where your child already feels safe
  • Early wins build the confidence that carries everything forward

Just Getting Started?

No Diagnosis Yet? We'll Point You the Right Way.

Insurance needs an autism diagnosis before ABA can start — and if your child doesn't have one yet, that's completely normal. We'll connect you with trusted Iowa diagnostic resources, walk you through what to expect, and be ready to begin the moment you have answers. You don't have to navigate this part alone.

How It Works

In-Home ABA Therapy

Our evidence-based approach brings expert therapy to where your child is most comfortable — your home.

Therapy at Your Kitchen Table

No clinic, no commute. Our therapists come to your home and work with your child right where they're most comfortable — because that's where the real learning actually happens.

One Kid, One Therapist

Your child gets dedicated, one-on-one time with a trained RBT who truly gets to know them. Every session is built around their interests, their goals, and their own pace.

Skills That Stick

Talking, daily routines, making friends — your child practices it all in the real world, not a sterile clinic. Skills learned at the kitchen table stick, because that's where life happens.

Parents Are Part of It

You won't be watching from a waiting room. We show you what's working, hand you the strategies, and keep the momentum going between sessions. Think of it as a partnership.

More Than a Diagnosis

We Treat the Whole Family

Your child isn't a case file, and you're not a bystander. We get to know your family — your routines, your hopes, the little things that make your kid your kid.

Then we hand you the tools. The strategies that work in session work at the dinner table too, so progress keeps going long after our therapist heads home for the day.

  • Parent coaching built into every single plan
  • Strategies that fit your real, busy Iowa routines
  • Siblings and grandparents welcome — it's a team effort
  • We celebrate the wins right alongside you
Getting Started

How Getting Started Works

From your first phone call to your child's first session — and every step after — here's exactly how it goes.

1

Talk to a BCBA

Call, text, or fill out the form. A real person picks up, and a BCBA calls you back for an honest conversation about your child — no scripts, no sales pitch.

2

In-Home Assessment

Your BCBA meets your child where they're comfortable — at home — to understand their strengths, their challenges, and what matters most to your family.

3

We Verify Your Insurance

We call your insurance, confirm your benefits, and tell you exactly what's covered before anything starts. Most Iowa families pay little or nothing. Zero surprises.

4

Therapy Starts at Home

We match your child with the therapist who's the right fit and build a plan around their goals. Sessions start in the comfort of your home, on your schedule.

5

Progress You Can See

Your BCBA tracks every goal and reviews the data with you regularly. You'll always know what's working, what's next, and how far your child has come.

6

We Stick With You

As your child grows, we adjust the plan, keep coaching you, and stay just a text away. This is a long-haul partnership — not a drop-off and goodbye.

What to Expect

No Surprises, Start to Finish

From the first phone call to your child's hundredth session, here's what working with Tall Grass actually feels like.

Scheduling That Fits Real Life

Mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends — we build sessions around school, work, and everything else on the family calendar. Therapy fits your week, not the other way around.

Play-Based Sessions

No flashcards-at-a-desk drudgery. Your child learns through play, following what they love, so sessions feel a whole lot more like fun than work.

Progress You Can Actually See

Your BCBA tracks every goal and walks you through the data in plain English. You'll see real, measurable wins — and always know exactly what's coming next.

We Handle the Paperwork

Insurance, authorizations, scheduling, the endless forms — we take all of it off your plate. You focus on your kid; we'll wrestle the busywork.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions about ABA therapy, insurance, and getting started.

Many Iowa families pay little to nothing out of pocket, though some plans have a copay. We're currently in-network with Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and work with other commercial plans, with Iowa Medicaid coming soon. We verify your benefits and tell you exactly what you'll owe — before therapy starts. No surprises, no hidden fees.

Fast — we don't believe in long waitlists. Once your insurance is verified, most families start within a couple of weeks. Every month on a waitlist is a month of progress your child doesn't get back, so we move quickly.

We work with children and teens all across Iowa — from early intervention (as young as 18 months to 2 years) through the teen years. The earlier you start, the bigger the impact, but it's never too late to make meaningful progress.

Yes, a formal autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis is typically required for insurance to cover ABA therapy. If your child doesn't have a diagnosis yet, that's okay — we'll help walk you through the process and connect you with diagnostic resources here in Iowa.

Every child is different. After an assessment, your BCBA recommends a plan that fits your child and your family. Plans typically range from 10 to 40 hours per week, and we build around your schedule — after school, mornings, weekends, whatever works.

Sessions are play-based and built around your child's interests. A trained Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) works one-on-one with your child at home, practicing real skills like communication, social interaction, and daily living — all in an environment they're comfortable in.
